Background:
The California-based “next generation” airline launched in 2007, with inaugural flights from JFK and LAX to SFO, culminating with a big launch party in SF. Virgin America quickly expanded into additional markets DC, Vegas, BOS, SAN, PSP, DEN, FLL, MCO, PDX, BNA... with fanfare in each new market. Alaska Airlines acquired VX in 2016 and merged all assets under the Alaska brand.
